Jan 25th, 2017- Toucans, Forest Night Walk & Last Trip to Cloud Forest

Our final full day in Costa Rica and the Monteverde region offered up more photo opportunities. Last night we  wrapped up the day with a rainforest night hike. This was a challenging adventure considering it is pitch black in the forest and photography needs light. With high powered flash lights and some areas where flash was allowed we got a few interesting shots. Then this morning we returned to the Cloud Forest for one final photo shoot before traveling back to San Jose for our overnight before flying home.

It has been a great trek and all our photographers are coming home with a great selection of images, from the wetlands, rainforest and mountain regions. I’m also please to announce we will be offering the same tour next year in January of 2018. Below are the selection of images from todays adventure.

This Emerald Toucan was catching the last light of the day.

Another Emerald Toucan there were 4 or 5 in this tree.

The start of our rain forest night shoot.

Walking up the trail, watch your step.

This is a large stick bug, it blends in very well to the bush.

A tarantula coming out of it’s ground nest.

This grey bird has settled in for the night.

This is a blue snail snake

Close-up as the blue snail snake moved along the forest floor.

Watching from high up in a tree.

A sloth slowing moving along the forest ceiling eating in the quiet night.

Another view of the sloth, he was very high in the trees.

One last chance to photograph the hummingbirds at the cloud forest.

It was low light shooting this morning due to trees and over cast but we gave it a try.

Flower with morning dew.

Another hummingbird stops to check things out.

This monkey slowing moved through the tree tops, keeping a close eye on whats below.

Another hummingbird lands on a tree close by.

This is a close-up of a hummingbird that landed on my hand.

Hummingbird at the feeder sitting on Laura’s hand, it’s cool feeling as it balances and feeds.

We stopped for coffee on our return to San Jose and found this scarlet macaw was feeding in a tree by the road way.

A few fun photos to wrap up our blog. Minor and Roy our guide and driver enjoying desert.

Nancy having some fun by the pool. Always a great smile Nancy.

Monica checking her height before zip line adventure.

Morning hot chocolate in Monteverde.

Happy Birthday to Gail during our tour.

Headed home ... What a great journey filled with many photos and plenty of laughter.

That’s a wrap on our Costa Rica photo tour blog, and thank you for following our adventure and a special thanks to all the photographers that traveled with us. It was great fun, new friends and many amazing photos. Our next tour is the Weekend with the Wolves, check back February 26th to 28th to follow our weekend of photography in Montebello, Quebec.

Thank you so much for sharing your photos. The picture of the parrot in flight is the most amazing photograph. National Geographic worthy (as are many pics). I will be heading to Costa Rica shortly and look forward to seeing this amazing country for myself :)
