Machu Picchu Journey to the “The Ancient City”

This morning we took the early train from Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu. We have had another beautiful day which also made for a great trade ride to Machu Picchu. Once we arrived we checked our luggage into our hotel and took the long and winding ride up to the ruins. It was amazing ... located at 8,000 feet about sea level just getting to the top was an adventure.

While visiting the “Ancient City” the clouds moved in and out very quickly which also helped to create some beautiful images. We stayed up at the site until 1:00 p.m. then came down into the valley and enjoyed some free time this afternoon to explore. Then this evening met for dinner. Once interesting thing about the location of our hotel, and as a matter of fact applies to 90% of the hotels here, the train literally right outside our door. You will see this in a couple of shots posted in tonights blog.

We are back up and out by 9:00 a.m. this morning as we head out back to the Ancient City.  Good night from all the Photo Tour Trekkers in Machu Picchu.

Our train this morning as we traveled to Machu Picchu. The train takes approximately 2 hours. This is a narrow gauge railway which mean the tracks are closer together.

Some of the beautiful scenery as we traveled through the valley

This is the trail head where you would go if you were taking the 4 day hike to the top

Amazing photos. I think my favourite is the clouds over the valley - would love to see it enlarged.
I see lots of llamas, any alpacas?
