Monday Aug 10th: Stonehenge, Winchester Cathedral and Bournemouth

We have now departed London and have headed back south towards the coast. We ran into some rain before reaching Stonehenge but it settled as we approached the site. The clouds added to the drama of this already very interesting place to visit.

After lunch we visited Winchester and Winchester Cathedral ... and yes now for any of you of that generation you will now be singing the song. Another great place for photographs complete with a crypt with an interesting statue in the middle. Not while we were there but this crypt is famous for flooding and filling with water.

We are now in Bournemouth and getting ready for the next couple of days to explore and photograph the Jurasic coast.  Enjoy todays photos.

We were not sure if we were on our way to a concert or Stonehenge!

Elderly couple enjoying the site

Panoramic of Stonehenge, many interesting angles to shoot from

This is a big problem on the approach road, bumper to bumper traffic trying to get a look at Stonehenge

B&W HDR adds to the drama of the location

Gail and Tammy waiting to head back to the visitors centre

Next stop Winchester, Dan walking up one of the garden paths toward the Cathedral

More interesting gardens as we walk to the Cathedral

Ancient church, the foot print of several churches can be seen and old burial crypts

The from of Winchester Cathedral ... come on I know you are signing the song!

This is the crypt with it’s interesting statue. This is located below the alters

A chapel to one of the early Arch Bishops who is buried in the crypt in the foreground. This church dates back into the 15th century.

Many interesting stair cases and little pockets to explore and photograph

The main alter and church ceiling

A walkway along side of the Cathedral

That’s it for this evening, good night from all the Trekkers here in Bournemouth, England.
