Israel Photo Tour Itinerary - October 23rd to 31th, 2019

Day 01, Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019: Mid afternoon on we will meet our motor coach at the Staybridge Hotel on Exeter Rd in London for a 3:00 p.m. depart to Pearson International airport for our overnight Lufthansa flight to Tel Aviv.

Day 02, Thursday, October 24th, 2019: Arrival to Ben Gurion airport. Meet our local guide, assistance through customs; transfer to our hotel In Tel Aviv. Our first chance to experience Tel Aviv. Dinner & two nights at the Grand Beach Hotel Tel Aviv. (B D)

Day 03, Friday, October 25th, 2019: After breakfast we will drive to Old Jaffa, (Ancient Joppa). See the House of Simon the tanner, photowalk around the narrow streets of the Old Jaffa and a recently restored harbour, then proceed to the Flea market, with the restored old manufactory workshop, outdoor shops, selling everything from buttons to the pre-war furniture, books, cutlery, etc. Many old buildings are turned into the restaurants, artists, studios, selling their own art, etc. Take your own tour walk through Tel Aviv, Israel’s metropolitan city on the Mediterranean; it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will walk along Tel Aviv – Jaffa Promenade, a great photography location; it starts now at Bat Yam, town to the south of Tel Aviv goes all the way to Herzlia in the north. Arrive at the to famous Carmel Market. You will see and have chance to photograph the displays of fruits, vegetables, cheese and many more items. We will take a drive through the streets of Tel Aviv. We will see the interesting New Wing of the Israel Museum Interesting construction. We will visit the ancient port of Tel Aviv with its beautiful sea walk, coffee shops, pubs, bars, and exhibition halls. There is one more interesting stop in Tel Aviv – Sarona.

We will then travel out of Tel Aviv and proceed along the shores of the Mediterranean to Caesarea, the former ancient capital built by King Herod. See the restored ancient Roman theatre, the Hippodrome and the Aqueduct. We will take the old scenic road via Zichron Yaakov, one of the 1st Jewish settlements in the country, founded at the end of 19th Century by the Baron Edmond de Rothschild. Visit there and arrive to Haifa, one of Israel’s largest ports and a beautiful town on the slopes of Mt. Carmel overlooking the Mediterranean. View the famous hanging Persian Garden at Bahai Centre, late in the afternoon we will return to our hotel. Dinner & overnight. Grand Beach Hotel Tel Aviv. (B D)

Day 04, Saturday, October 26th, 2019: After breakfast, check out and leave Tel Aviv and drive along the Mediterranean coast to Acre, a Crusader City, on the Mediterranean coast, one of the oldest permanently inhabited towns on earth. Acre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will visit the remains of the famous Fortress, and the British prison, where Jewish freedom fighters were incarcerated; walk through Acre’s underground tunnels to the restored old market. We continue to Nazareth where Jesus spent his youth and walk around the beautifully restored Old City and the oriental bazaars. Arrive to your kibbutz Hotel Maagon on the Sea of Galilee. Day 05, Sunday, October 27th, 2019: After breakfast we will visit and photograph in the Sea of Galilee area. Visit Capernaum, town of Jesus and remains of the ancient Synagogue. See Tabgha, the site of Multiplication and take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Have St. Peter’s Fish lunch. After lunch we will take a jeep tour and start our afternoon photo sessions… continue onto the Banias, a place of great natural beauty, the site of ancient Caesarea Philippi. Caesarea Philippi was the local centre of the Cult of Pan (hence Panias/Banias) and, as being close to the source of the Jordan, had the river gushing out of a cave that led people to declare it was the river Styx, the gateway to the underworld… continue along the Golan Heights, stop along the way to a lookout on Syria from Mount Bental where from the observation point 3 borders (Lebanon, Israel and Syria) are seen. Late afternoon return to our kibbutz hotel Dinner & overnight. Maagan Eden kibbutz Hotel Sea of Galilee. (directly on the Sea shore) (B D)

Day 06, Monday, October 28th, 2019: At dawn, rise and head for a photo shoot at the Hula Valley. It is an agricultural region in northern Israel. It has an abundant amount of fresh water. Hula Valley is a major stopover for birds migrating along the Syrian-African Rift Valley between Africa, Europe, and Asia. Originally it was a marshland, a breeding ground for mosquitoes carrying malaria. As a result it was drained in the 1950s. In an attempt to revive a nearly extinct ecosystem, a small section of the valley was later re-flooded. An estimated 500 million migrating birds now pass through the Hula Lake Park every year. We will drive along Jordan Valley to Jericho, one of the oldest towns on earth. Continue to Qumran and visit the caves where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were found. The place is very impressive and will be an ideal place for taking pictures. Continue to Ein Gedi, an oasis in the Judean Desert. You will see beautiful waterfalls and David’s spring where David was hiding from King Saul. Proceed along the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth, over 400 m below the Sea Level. Proceed to Masada, Fortress and Palaces built by King David. It is believed that the famous battle between the roman forces and Jewish zealot took place there in the 1st Century. Ascend the fortress by the cable car, just in time for sunset photography. The travel to our hotel on the Dead Sea Dinner & overnight. David Dead Sea Spa Hotel. (B D)

Day 07, Tuesday, October 29th, 2019: After breakfast spend some time on the Dead Sea for photography, we can also opt to swim there and, then drive towards Jerusalem. Proceed to Mt. Olives and enjoy a panoramic view over the Golden City of Jerusalem. Walk along Palm Way to Church of All Nations and see a very beautiful Garden of Gethsemane with its ancient Olive Trees. We will then travel to the Walls of the Old City and enter through one of its numerous gates. Walk along Via Dolorosa with its 14 Stations of the Cross. Arrive to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the holiest shrine in the Christendom. Continue to the Western Wall, the only remains dating to the 2nd Temple period, also known as the Wailing Wall, a sacred place for Jewish People. Walk to the restored ancient Jewish Quarter and Cardo Maxima, and arrive to the ancient Armenian Quarter. Leave the walls of the Old City and visit the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. Mid afternoon arrive at our hotel. Dinner & overnight. Grand Court Hotel Jerusalem for two nights. (B D)

Day 08, Wednesday, October 30th, 2019: Breakfast then drive to Temple Mount. Walk around and view the Dome of the Rock and El Aksa Mosque. The proceed to see the Room of the Last Supper, the Dormition Abbey and traditional tomb of King David. Continue to City of David, located on a narrow ridge just to the south of the Old City, near Silwan Village. The archaeological exploration of the City of David began in the middle of the 19th century and continues today. Above ground, the City of David is a hub of activity, but underground Jerusalem is where recent excavations reveal the most exciting archaeological finds of the ancient world and the beginning of the ancient Jerusalem, chosen by King David for its important geopolitical location and the water tunnels there. Visit Warren Shaft and then drive to Bethlehem, birthplace of Jesus. Visit the Church of Nativity with its grottos, wander around Manger Square, visit Shepherd’s Field the return to Jerusalem for dinner and prepare for our journey home. Dinner & overnight. Day 09, Thursday, October 31th, 2019: Time permitting, drive to Ein Karem, beautiful Village in Jerusalem and continue to Ben Gurion airport for our flight home to Toronto arriving at 5:04 p.m. After clearing customs we will say good-bye to our connecting and Toronto area guests and board our motor coach, for the return to London. Arriving at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The temperatures in October in Israel range 15C (60F) to 25C (77F). Making it a great time of year to travel this part of the world. We will be hosting a pre tour information event for guests registered for our Israel tour three weeks prior to our tour departure.


 The cost of our Israel Photo Tour Departing from Toronto is $3950.00 per person CAD based on double occupancy including airfare departing from Pearson International Toronto, plus air taxes of $830.18 CAD plus HST $17.55. Single supplement is available of an additional $1060.00 CAD.
