We returning to Machu Picchu this morning, this time hiking up to Sun Temple which is located high about the ruins. It is a switch back trail with a mixture of steps and walkways. It took has 40 minutes to reach the top, the view was spectacular. We spent the entire morning exploring the upper plateaus of the ancient ruins. One member from our group Jane took the additional 40 minute hike and went up to Sun Gate which was the Inca entrance to Machu Picchu and the entrance hikers approach when they take the 4 day hike to Machu Picchu. The entire region is protected land. This evening we took the train back to Cusco and tomorrow we will spend the day photographing the markets and ruins found in this region. Enjoy the selection of todays photos.
