We arrived into Cusco by train on the evening of the 7th enjoyed a dinner before checking into our hotel for the next two nights. The following morning we photographed as several locations in and around Cusco, including the Cusco ancient ruins created by the Incas. One of the most amazing things about the ruins we visited was the size of the stone work used for the walls, and the fact that the Incas brought the from a volcanic quarry 10 kms away. The Spanish later took the Inca structure apart and rolled a large amount of the stone work to the base of the city to build some of the cathedrals. We also visited the largest cathedral in Cusco, which contains beautiful silver and gold alters and many beautiful paintings including a unique version of the last supper. In the afternoon some free time to continue exploring this mountain city and then a great farewell dinner where we said goodbye to our host and guide Fidel. Thursday morning we flew back to Lima visited the old Spanish quarter of the city then in the evening enjoyed our farewell dinner and a Peruvian dance show. It's been an amazing adventure and we are now headed home. Thanks to all the photographers that joined me as we experienced Peru and thank you for following along through our blog. Enjoy a selection of our last days in Peru. Don't forget to check back at the end of November as Trekkers departs on our next adventure to Galapagos Islands.
