Costa Rica Blog Day 1 - Friday February 07, 2020
After departing Toronto just before the ice and snow we have arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica. After a nights sleep we headed out for our first day in Costa Rica.
We started the morning with a visit to Doka Coffee Estate located on the fertile slopes of the Poas Volcano. This estate belongs to the Costa Rican Vagar Riuz family pioneers of coffee for more than 70 years. We learned about the art of growing beans, the harvest and processing of the beans. Then finished off with tasting the various roasts. We traveled to La Paz Waterfall, the vegetation and wildlife offered up many photo oops. Within the reserve is a butterfly garden, an aviary, hummingbird garden, serpentarium exhibit and orchid garden. Plenty of opportunities for our fist day out.
