Costa Rica Blog Day 8 and Day 9 - Fri Feb 15th & Sat Feb 16th, 2020
Our last two days in Costa Rica have drawn to a close and we are preparing to fly home to Canada.
On Friday morning we departed Cano Negro and traveled to Arenal Volcano National Park. Mid morning we hiked up to the volcanic rocks below the hills of Arenal Volcano. We have a few good bird photography opportunities including a male and female white throated mag-pie jay. We carried on to La Fortuna of lunch, the cottage we visited for lunch had many colour birds to photograph in the back yard. Mid afternoon we travel back to San Jose for our final evening and farewell dinner.
On Saturday we packed up as we have an evening flight but spent the day exploring the regions just outside of San Jose. We visited the Irazu Volcano National Park, the Basilica Church of Cartago, and the ruins of Cartago product of an Earthquake in year 1910. Interesting that the Basilica ruins were under construction during the time of the earthquake and was never completed.
