Greenland Photo Tour - "The heart of Greenland and Disko Bay" Our voyage begins and ends in Iceland, sailing us to the western Greenlandic coastline with its charming scenery and many colourful settlements. You will meet the warm people who live here, and learn more about their traditions and modern culture. Disko Bay is also renowned for its Arctic landscape of glaciers and impressive icebergs.
I would like to invite you to join us as we photograph and explore Greenland onboard the MS Fridtjof Nansen, the latest addition of hybrid ships – and represents the next generation of expedition sailing. Our sixteen day fifteen night cruise offers our photographers an amazing Greenland experience, each day we will visit different regions of Greenland. Wildlife up-close including whale watching, birds, sea lions and interesting floral colours.
During our journey we will also experience Iceland including an option for a 4 day pre sailing photo tour various locations in Iceland. I look forward to sharing our Greenland experience with you in July of 2022.

Greenland Photo Tour Itinerary - "The heart of Greenland and Disko Bay" July 24th to August 9th, 2022
Welcoming fully vaccinated guests on all our tours.
Day One: Sunday July 24th, 2022: Mid afternoon departure offered from Staybridge Suites London to Toronto pick-ups available en route. Toronto and area guests will meet at Pearson International. Flying from Toronto to Reykjavík via Iceland Air our fight departs at 9:25 p.m. Our overnight flight will see us arriving the following morning.
Day Two: Monday July 25th, 2022: Arriving in Reykjavík we clear customs, meet our local guide and stop for breakfast. We will have time to photograph some of the local sceenery around Reykjavík prior to boarding our ship, the MS Fridtjof Nansen. Reykjavík is the northernmost capital city in the world. The name means 'Smokey Bay,' so called because of the columns of steam that rise from the many hot springs in the area. Our ship departs Reykjavík port at 8:00 p.m. (D)
Day Three and Day Four: Tueday July 26th and Wednesday July 27th, 2022: We leave Iceland behind as overnight we continue to sail across the Irminger Sea. This is the same crossing that was used by the Vikings to migrate from Iceland to Greenland some 1,000 years ago. Enjoy introductory lectures on local history and biology for insight into the upcoming destinations. We will also provide time for jacket fitting and sizing and collection of rubber boots priovided for our daily landings. (B) (L) (D)
Day Five: Thursday July 28th, 2022: Arrive at Qagortoq. Many consider Qaqortoq one of the most beautiful towns in Greenland for its colorful houses and photographic setting. It is the biggest town in South Greenland, with some 3,000 inhabitants, but still easy to explore on foot. Todays excursion will give us more insight into local culture. (B) (L) (D)
Day Six: Friday July 29th, 2022: Today we will discover the beautiful region of Paamiut by sailing deep into the Kvanefjord. Our captain and expedition leader will take advantage of the current weather and ice conditions to identify our activity for the day. This could be a hike ashore for a scenic view of the area, or possibly small-boat cruising or optional kayaking. (B) (L) (D)
Day Seven: Saturday July 30th, 2022: The Venice of Greenland. Maniitsoq was founded in 1755 and its name means `The Uneven Place,´ referring to the rocky hills and mountains shaping the layout of the town. It is also known as the `Venice of Greenland´ as it is situated in an archipelago, intersected by natural canals. The local museum charts the town´s rich history and culture. The colourful village buildings and area wildlife offer up many photo opportunities. (B) (L) (D)
Day Eight: Sunday July 31st, 2022: Sisimiut "where there are fox dens" Sisimiut is situated 25 miles north of the Arctic Circle. The name means `The People Living in a Place of Fox Dens.´ This is the second largest town in Greenland, a modern, picturesque settlement that maintains ancient traditions. Today we visit Sisimiut hike the trails. (B) (L) (D)
Day Nine: Monday August 1st, 2022: Ilulissat is set in the stunning scenery of the Ilulissat Icefjord UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the mouth of the fjord you can see enormous icebergs that have run aground. These ice masses originate from the Jakobshavn Glacier, one of the fastest-moving glaciers in the world. (B) (L) (D)
Day Ten: Tuesday August 2nd, 2022: Exploration day Vaigat Sound. This morning we arrive at the northernmost point in our itinerary. There are several excellent landing sites in Vaigat Sound offering breathtaking landscapes for photography and Arctic flora. Our captain and expedition leader will take advantage of the current weather and ice conditions to identify our activity and landing points for the day. (B) (L) (D)
Day Eleven: Wednesday August 3rd, 2022: Evighed Fjord, another day of arctic exploration. On one side of the meandering Evighed Fjord is an ice cap that often crashes massive chunks of ice into the water. Around us are the highest mountains in West Greenland with peaks, up to 26,600 feet in height, sometimes swirling with mist. Conditions on the day will determine the final program and the range of activities on offer by our captain and expedition team. (B) (L) (D)
Day Twelve: Thursday August 4th, 2022: Nuuk the Vibrant Capital of Greenland. Nuuk is situated at the mouth of one of the most spectacular fjord systems in the world. The capital city is where old and new traditions meet, from historic buildings in `Kolonihavnen´ to the modern Centre for Greenland Self Rule. Another feature is the National Museum - home to the famous mummies of Qilakitsoq. We will spend the day exploring and photogaphing Nuuk. (B) (L) (D)
Day Thirteen: Friday August 5th, 2022: Muskoxes and a Norse Settlement - Ivittuut Long ago, the Viking settled this spectacular area. According to archaeologists, Vikings settled in this area more than a thousand years ago but didn’t remain. Ivittuut is believed to be the last Norse settlement in Greenland, but first to be abandoned. Nowadays, the only inhabitants that might appear in the town are wandering musk oxen that normally graze in the nearby plains. (B) (L) (D)
Day Fourteen: Saturday August 6th, 2022: Prins Christian Sund. This long fjord is surrounded by mountains that reach over 3,900 feet, and up to 7,280 feet high. Many glaciers go straight into its waters where they calve icebergs of all shapes, shades, and sizes. If the channel is blocked with ice, we will sail around Nunap Isua (Cape Farewell) instead. Day Fifteen and Day Sixteen: Sunday August 7th and Monday August 8th, 2022: Irminger Sea - Our return sail back to Iceland. After exploring exhilarating Greenland, we set course back to Iceland. Spend the days at sea recapping your experiences, having fun in the Science Center, or just relaxing on deck, looking at the seabirds which follow our ship or maybe even spotting whales. (B) (L) (D)
Day Seventeen: Tuesday August 9th, 2022: Reykjavík - Estimated time of arrival is 6:00 a.m. We arrive back in the Icelandic capital early in the morning and will prepare for our disembarkation. Early afternoon we will transfer back to the airport for our Iceland Air afternoon retrun flight to Toronto. After cleaning customs, we will say good-bye to our connecting and GTA guests, board our motor coach for our drive back to London, with any drop offs en route arriving at approximating 7:00 p.m.
Greenland in July has an annual temperature range of the highest average high temperature is 50°F 10°C. Daily low temperatures from 40°F 5°C to 42°F 6°C. You will also need to pack a pair of splash pants to wear over your clothing.
Pre-tour Information Night: As with all our photo tours, we will hold a photo information night approximately three weeks prior to departure. We will present the final itinerary, travel suggestions, what gear to pack, and hand out all related travel documents. The pre-tour presentation is designed to give our photographers all the information needed for our trek. This also allows a chance for you to meet your fellow travellers, and host. The tentative date for our information night is Thursday July 5th, 2022, location and time will be updated closer to our departure.

The cost of our Greenland Photo Tour is $9,465.00 CAD based on double occupancy Outside Cabin, including international air from Toronto, plus air tax $550.00 and $17.55 HST. Single supplement available upon request.
Cabin upgrades available: Superior Cabin P Oustside: - add $1,490.00 CAD
Cabin upgrades available: PS Cabin Outside: - add $2,985.00 CAD
A non-refundable deposit of $400.00 CAD is due at the time of booking an additional deposit of $1,000.00 CAD is due January 2nd, 2022 based on the base cabin price, deposit will be adjusted for upgrades. Final payment is due 180 days prior to departure. Cancelations 50% refund between 180 and 90 day before departure, 25% refund between 89 and 61 days prior to departure, less than 60 days 100% non refundable.
You may also choose to pay over 12 monthy payments through our Uplift finance program estimate - $894 per month. You select 12 month payment option under the payment section during registration.
Guests joining us on our Greenland Tour may add Iceland as a pre tour add on: the cost is $2090.00 per person CAD based on double occupancy. Single supplement available for an additional $475.00 CAD.
