Norway Photo Tour - September 23rd to October 5th, 2024
Norway Photo Tour - "A vast adventure playground & villages amidst nature"
The essence of Norway's appeal is remarkably simple: this is one of the most beautiful countries on earth.
Stirring Landscapes - Impossibly steep-sided Norwegian fjords of extraordinary beauty cut gashes from a jagged coastline deep into the interior. Glaciers, grand and glorious, snake down from ice fields that rank among Europe's largest. Elsewhere, the mountainous terrain of Norway's interior resembles the ramparts of so many natural fortresses, and yields to rocky coastal islands that rise improbably from the waters like apparitions. Then, of course, there's the primeval appeal, the spare and staggering beauty of the Arctic.
Join Photo Tour Trekkers photography host Leif Petersen as you photograph and explore his homeland. Leif has conducted many photo tours to this region over the years and is pleased to share his favourite landscape locations with you.
We look forward to you joining us in June of 2023 for our next Norway photo adventure.

Day Three: Wednesday September 25th, 2024 After breakfast, continue Oslo sightseeing and photography. There are many sightseeing opportunities in Oslo, but the Vigeland Installation, in Frogner Park, is the most popular. This 80 acre area features an arrangement of 212 bronze and granite nude sculptures, all designed by Gustav Vigeland. After passing through the large wrought iron main gates, we'll cross the 328 ft. bridge lined with 58 sculptures, including one of the park's most famous statues, 'The Angry Boy'. We'll continue on to the fountain and then to the 'Circle of Life' and the 46' monolith, which is composed of 121 human figures rising towards the sky. We'll have lunch at an outdoor cafe in the park and then tour the nearby Vigeland Museum. Later in the afternoon, we'll take the tram back to the city centre. There will be time to browse through the shops, do some street photography and have a rest before heading out to dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight Best Western Karl Johan Hotel. (B)
Day Four: Thursday September 26th, 2024 After breakfast - check out of our hotel and take the train to Gardermoen Airport. We will transfer to the ferry terminal, where we will board one of the Hurtigruten coastal ships for the 6.75 hour scenic voyage through the fjords to Stamsund, on the island of Vestvågøy (øy = island). We will be met at the dock and our luggage will be transferred to our cabins, or 'rorbuer', in Burreka, while we take a 10 minute walk from the dock. The Burreka cabins will be our base for the duration of our stay in Lofoten. Overnight at Burreka Cabins. (B)

On our return to Stamsund, we'll stop for some souvenir shopping in Leknes and maybe enjoy one of Leif's favourite delicacies: soft ice cream dipped in liquorice sprinkles. Norway offers up some of the most spectacular photo opportunities, with colour and landscapes right out of a picture book. In the Lofoten Islands, with the mountains and the sea, the weather is more unpredictable both in terms of temperature and rainfall. Temperatures can range from 8C to 17C and, although we will likely have to put up with some rain, it won't dampen our photographic spirits. Weather patterns are changing all over the world and Norway is no different.
